Operations Manager – Bognor Regis, West Sussex.

Acumen Logistics Group is one of the UK’s top 100 logistics companies, providing innovative customer solutions to some of the UK’s most successful companies.

We have recently been successful in being awarded a prestigious long term contract in the West Sussex Area around Goodwood. This includes operating a major support facility (Warehouse) in Bognor Regis and managing all the movement and delivery within the UK of Finished Vehicle Logistics for a prestigious car manufacturer.

We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, confident Operations Manager. With a direct and "hands on" approach you will ensure the performance, productivity and efficiency of the operation to ensure deadlines are met whilst maintaining a high standard of service and delivery throughout the operation.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Managing a dynamic 2 shift operation ensuring the body in white / finished vehicle moves are planned and managed in an efficient and professional manner. To include proactive planning, load building, warehousing, load pulling, staging and despatch through to delivery and confirmation.

• Ensure accuracy of planning and paperwork preparation for operations.

• Ensure all systems are up to date and accurate in line with operational moves.

• Ensure compliance to CAA and Customs requirement for export moves.

• The H&S of the entire contract business and staff in all aspects including compliance.

• Managing the fleet of trucks and trailers ensuring legal compliance and operational safety standards are maintained at all times.

• Managing direct reports (5) and maintaining close oversight of the drivers (6)

• Undertake the bid process for special move jobs based on set guidelines to ensure optimum profitability and customer satisfaction.

? Reviewing and authorising repairs and the purchase of parts/consumables.

•Ensuring any delays and problems are –

a) Managed completely.

b) Communicated promptly to the customer.

c) Effective mitigation is taken as appropriate to recover operating position.

•Driver’s hours’ compliance.

•The ownership and achievement of all departmental KPI’s targets.

•Building and maintaining professional relationships with both customers and employees.

•Cost control across the operation (both internal and third party).

•End to End delivery including dealing with out of hours issues as required.

•Direct client liaison and resolution negotiation.

Ideally you should be:

? Hold an HGV Class 1 (C+E) License.

? Highly motivated and able to demonstrate a strong work ethic.

? Experience leading a busy Transport operation.

•Experienced in managing P&L & cash flow in some capacity.

•Excellent people skills.

•Able to make quick decisions based on sound understanding of the current operation.

•Experienced managing people both in the office and remotely.

•Experience of working in road transport or logistics – preferably hold a Driver Certificate of professional competence (CPC).

•Familiar with automotive mechanical issues.

•Able and willing to work flexible hours – if not currently living in the area be willing to relocate.
